Bob,

I would rather short the bonds than buy gold, if you mean inflation. Higher rates are a must in that environment. Gold is a flaky market, Russia could dump their stores of gold when prices get high enough and kill the market in the middle of a bull move. They did that before and will likely do that again. They have plenty of gold, but no money.
