By naphtha I mean the low boiling point liquid fraction of crude oil made up of molecules with 5 to about 10 carbon atoms. The octane is low, maybe 40-60, so only a very limited amount could be blended into gasoline without a further processing step called reforming. That step tends to produce lots of a type of molecule called aromatics which are high in octane but limited by environmental rules.
