Another round of lackluster Air America ratings
By Aaron The Blue State Conservatives
You got to wonder how long this can go on.
Let's start in San Francisco (4th largest market), the heart of liberalism in America, where KQKE fell back down to a 1.2 rating good for 23rd place.
In Dallas (5th), KXEB was a flat 0.5 and is in 40th place, just two from the bottom.
In Washington, D.C. (8th), the pain continues for Air Enron. where WWRC once again fails to have enough on an audience to show up in the ratings list.
In Atlanta (11th), WWAA is in dead last in the market after it fell to a tiny 0.4 rating.
In Miami (12th), WINZ continues its race to the bottom as it fell to a 1.6 rating, down from 2.0.
Seattle (14th) continues to be a one of the few strong markets for Air America. KPTK showed steady growth up to a 2.0 rating. Still, the station is in 23rd place and is 6th out of six news/talk stations in the market.
In Minneapolis-St. Paul (16th), KTNF did show signs of life by jumping up to a 1.2 rating, but it is still in 18th place out of 22 stations.
In Baltimore (20th), WWRC also fails to show up in the ratings list.
In Denver (#22), KKZN was thought to be a AAR station on the rise, but the new summer ratings show the station diving to a 1.8 rating.
In Cincinnati (#27), WCKY improved slightly to a 1.1 rating in Jerry Springer's hometown. In San Jose (#33), KQKE fared worse than in SF. The station fell to a 0.8 rating.
In Columbus, OH (#35), WTPG improved slightly to 1.0, but is still down from its high of 1.5.
In Monterey-Salinas-Santa Cruz (#77), KOMY made headlines when the station owner went on the air to beg the locals to buy ads to keep the station on the air. According to the ratings, no one is actually listening to the station so I don't forsee a long run for AAR in Santa Cruz.
So here is where the summer scoreboard stands:
3.0 rating or higher: 0 2.0 to 2.9: 2 1.0 to 1.9: 7 0.1 to 0.9: 10 To low to generate a rating: 6 Stations dropping the format: 3
