Anyone proficient in WORD? Trying to find an answer to this:

Word problem. I just opened up a few old files from a long time ago (letters) that were saved in Word and each one of them is updating the date for today. So even if I wrote the letter two years ago and saved it, it is opening up with all the info I saved except the date that I originally had is being replaced with the current date. How weird is that?

Susie suggested this:

When you have the document open and you want to put in the date, got to "insert", "date and time". A box will pop up showing the different formats.
On the bottom of the box it says "update automatically". If you check that box, I believe it changes the date every time you open the document.

I tried that but the box was not checked.
