LOL - and i haven't even read that stuff. I am familiar with the idea and read recnt interviews with him. Some people here on SI are really into it - the singularity. Particularly Maurice Winn and Shades too I think. All the anti-goldbugs. Seems there are two extremes - goldbug catastrophists and cornucopian singularity/star-trek world believers. Don't seem to many in the middle. Other people are peak oil catastrophists. I was learning about peak oil 15 years ago, but neither myself nor my professors from then are catastrophists - we are just skeptical of the star-trek contingent.
