I never tell anyone what I make or what I have, I was brought up to believe that was rude. Yeah, but think about it at work. If all the colleagues know each other's salaries, it gives them the advantage in negotiations with the company. If no one knows each other's salaries, it gives the company the advantage, and it increases the likelihood of inequality. It would be a big cultural change, but I don't know if it would be a bad one. As for scam artists, the target (rich sucker) would be able to find out the yearly income and net worth of the scammer, so the rich sucker might not be persuaded unless the scammer was pretty wealthy. And a very wealthy scammer probably wouldn't be scamming, he'd be skiing...
