This is interesting. This appears to be a satellite phone provider. That is a good thing too. I watched as Motorola forwarded the Iridium idea, and then competition announced.

Satellite power is slightly different. Vast solar photovoltaic collectors would orbit the earth. They would probably have to be manned for maintenance purposes. Grids might well be miles across. They would initially produce electricity at above market costs. As in any venture like this, as fixed costs were distributed over larger production, costs per KWH would fall. As the cost of energy rises, it should rise enough to bring the costs of orbital harvesting in line costs associated with permanent destruction of natural resources.

Your mind thinks like a businessman's. Other business persons would take advantage of the market price discrepancies, and some businesses would have their remote offices contract for services to first world users.

Yes, power demand in China (etc.) is high, but the availability of money to pay for is less freely released. With power satellites there is no storage of power. Consumers must be found within range of all orbital positions, preferably paying ones. Forgoing distribution of generated power is a shame.
