BTW, this months US forces losses are down quite nicely from the preceding four months

It just all depends on how many people happen to be in a vehicle that takes an IED explosion...

Last month was bad because we have that LVT-7 take a hit and those marine snipers were killed because their leadership failed to give them proper overwatch (and the marines got lazy about changing their hide positions)..

Let see what October - December brings us. With the mess down in Basra with the Shiite militants stirring up trouble (Iranian instigated, btw) numbers could rise..

What I can say is that commander (I've heard rumours), have become very gun-shy about committing forces to operations.

No one wants to see their career ruined by enduring casualities.

A major exception to this was the recent activities in Tal Afar.. But even there, some say we gave the Muj's way too much time to beat feet before we commenced operations.
