i believe after following for a decade it is cost , those solar cells are expensive, need 24 hour operation , need storage , etc ... not knocking solar but the company i worked for had the brightest people working on it with plenty of cash for about 15 years. everything i read we still haven't gotten much further. and it is really only good in selected area with lots of sun.
