Could be. I think that the problem with enterprise software isn't that there is no demand for the stuff, it's just that the software is such crap that it takes years to get it installed and working. I sat next to a guy on a plane recently that had just gone through a 2 year rollout process that was a total failure, and they had hired somebody else to do the install and that took another year. ORCL just recently bought the company that wrote this software (and which was responsible for the 2 year failed rollout), and he was very hopeful that things would get better (and at the very least that the software would be supported for long enough to get used).

Oracle has people that know how to turn out huge, reliable software projects on schedule, but so far none of them have worked on apps (actually, I know of one person that tried to go over there a few years ago, and they ignored him until he went back to the RDBMS side). But if Larry and his team are finally of a mood to stop tolerating the lossage and excuses on that side, they can turn it around the way they did in the RDBMS and app server. Apparently PSFT has people that could get things done, too, although I don't know that for a fact.

Cramer's penetrating analysis today was up to his usual standard. What a wingnut...
