It would be nice if he could talk about the regulation on its own merits, rather that just oppose everything because its a regulation, and not a newfound individual freedom.

A reduction or increase in freedom is part of the merits of a proposal. Of course freedom isn't the only issue, but its an important one for most people, and particularly important IMO.

Of course there is also a major privacy issue in this case as well. In fact this proposal deals more with privacy then freedom.

As for the advantages you list, I think A and B would only be minor effects. D and E probably aren't important issues. As for C, it already works that way.

As for the disadvantages you list, I think A is a fairly major one. It is only mitigated by the fact that the information already is not secret for the most part. Much of this information can already be found out.
