Wanted: "Dislodged Voters"

Voters Abandoning Republican and Democrat Parties Looking for a New Political Home

(Washington, D.C.) In the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, as more Americans die in Iraq, as deficit spending continues to grow by epic proportion, and as the civil liberties of American citizens disappear almost by the day, more and more Aericans are beginning to lose faith in their political parties and are looking for alternatives.

During the administration of George W. Bush, we have seen a total disregard for the principles of fiscal conservatism partnered with a disdain for civil liberties. While Bush and his colleagues continue to expand the size and power of the federal government, Democrats sit idly by, rarely expressing dissent for the purpose of political survival.

In a recent episode of NBC’s Meet The Press, columnist David Brooks discussed the shift that is taking place within what wasa stalemated political spectrum. Brooks stated:

"We're having a joint race to the bottom here between the two parties, and I think the result is what you're seeing is a dealignment. Voters flaking off the Republicans but not going over to the Democrats. They're just sort of stuck and floating in the middle. Stan Greenberg, Bill Clinton's old pollster, called them dislodged voters. And to me, that means the '08 election is gonna look very different than '04 or '00."

Shane Cory, chief of staff of the Libertarian Party, echoed the tone of the program by stating, "It is obvious that the political spectrum has shifted dramatically over the second term of George W. Bush's presidency. Republicans are fed up with Bush's big government, big spending mentality while Democrats are continually disappointed with their party's lack of a spine when it comes to Iraq and civil liberties."

Cory continued, "The Libertarian Party has already begun various campaigns to attract dislodged voters and the winds are blowing in our favor. While we all hate to see our nation go down the wrong path under the two-party system, the good news is that Americans are starting to wake up and look for alternatives. If you believe in smaller government, fewer taxes and more freedom, we are the only alternative."
