From Polly da P; last of my group back from NO... Sioupy; you may want to send this to Arriana...

Dear Friends, I am back in Algiers after delivering a load of generators, tarps, hammers, nails and supplies They have opened Algiers again for people to come back to their homes only to shut it down again because of the impending threat of Hurricane Rita coming .I personally am praying the bitch away as this area can not take one more blow.It is barely hanging by a thread as is. It looks like a few nukes have hit here Devastation everywhere We hooked up with a cool man a congressional aide who is a Vet and who is completely fed up with the currenly malfunctioning systems in place.Kevin was able to get into no go zones where there is still water. It is so direly putrid we all had to wear masks and still had stinging and crap in our lungs. The saddest is the dying animals whom even if they got picked up would surely die from drinking and walking in the sludge of death that is everywhere. The water marks on the houses are 10 to 15 feet high alot have not been gone in to as of yet and probly contain bodies after all this time. The stench and feel of the place is unbelievable. When I return home not only will I not be the same but I am forming an organization to continue support for this community of Algiers and A tribe of indians The Houmas on the coast with over 6000 displaced and a population of !6,000 all who need desperate help. We have sent teams into desolate areas to assess and supply.Bugalusa is another extreme example of extreme racism.I find the majority of money whites are disconnected from the human race.Never have I seen such hatred to this extreme such sheer stupidity and ignorance and business as usual. They may as well walk past the dead as if its so inconvient and wish their little Georgie Bush Fuck would hurry with his extermination plans its taking so long.On the light side the tears of gratitude and love is abundant and the thankyou for being here keeps me fueled. If any of you want to keep contributing Lynn Meadows and I will begin our work at home in mendo to continue to support our new familys with growing health and living concerns. We will keep all of you informed. The need will be continuous.I will be home in 5 days at which point I will probly cry alot and decompress so I can continue on to help.I will be coming back.Love to all Pray that we don't have to evacuate and that Rita pittles out.Love P
