I'm pissed. A lot of BS got reported by the media concerning the horrific crimes at the Superdome and the Convention Center, got accepted by posters here as gospel truth, then got repeated by posters who should have known better. And it turns out that the crimes, the 7 year old girl with the slit throat, etc., were nothing more than overreported media hype which no one should have believed during those frenzied days in the first place. Why should I be pissed? After all, the lack of truth to these frenzied stories has been finally making the rounds of the media now that cooler heads have prevailed and the facts can be dispassionately sifted. I am pissed because the damage has been done, because no one goes back to read the truth and because the posters here and elsewhere who bought this BS and ranted and raved about NO crime as if it were any different in kind and scope than that of NYC or LA knew better than to let their emotions get the better of their judgment. As I said, the damage has been done. And if you don't think it doesn't make any difference in national attitude and therefore reconstruction dollars, you're nuts. But some of these posters are indeed nuts. Shame on you. You know who you are. Paret you lead this shameful list, but you are not alone.
