Sept. 28, 2005--Metro One Telecommunications, Inc. (Nasdaq:INFO - News), the leading provider of Enhanced Directory Assistance® and other enhanced telecom services, today announced that it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,944,279 for a method of offering individual or group directories. Metro One offers such services through Infone®, its premium personal assistant service, at 888-411-1111. The patent describes a method whereby a directory or information assistance operator or voice server can act as an agent for the called party, enabling caller access to their secure, personal or enterprise directory of telephone numbers. Additionally, the operator may connect the calling party to a called party based on the contact information in the directory, allowing the owner or administrator of this private directory to choose whether or not to disclose contact information in the directory to the particular calling party. "This innovation adds to our portfolio of live and automated personalized directory and information services," said Timothy Timmins, president and chief executive officer of Metro One Telecommunications. "We recognize the importance of privacy and consumer concerns regarding telephone contact. With this technology, our operators can put people in contact based on configurable consumer wishes. We are excited to create new and better technologies that allow us to provide ever more responsive and efficient personal services over the phone."
