I would guess that most people who oppose the US role in Iraq don't oppose the state per se; they see Iraq as an unnecessary waste of lives and resources that could be better used at home. There is another current of antiwar thought that simply finds it to be bad and/or immoral foreign policy.

I am more intrigued by those who made their careers preaching against the government, while they were mostly in the minority, then became huge fans of soaring government spendings (and deficit-fueled tax cuts which amount to the same thing) when they could steer the goodies their own way.

Now they are spending addicts with unlimited credit from the street corner dealers.
