I will be watching on TV. I signed up for ESPN GamePlan on cable to see any games not otherwise televised in my area. I envy you being at the games.

I agree VT will not be able to coast with West Virginia, Virgina, Boston College and Miami. When South Florida beat Louisville so handily it proved to me even Marshall and Maryland can win if the some of the Hokies lose focus or get rattled.

I have heard one of the unintended consequences of Title 9 is that even small schools can find near-great football talent for their rosters because the powerhouses cannot load up too deep with unlimited football scholarships.

I honestly felt Georgia Tech was going to give VT a great game but they seemed to get rattled by the first series of downs and everything was downhill from there. GT also showed me what happens if the offensive line is not up to the task.

It would be great to play USC at the end of the season. The fact that Virginia Tech played so well against them in the opener last year would go a long way in setting up a rematch. I still clinch my teeth when I think about that rotten call last year on past interference. The officials gave a couple of big questionable calls to USC against Oregon to get them turned around. You are right about the momentum shifting in the USC-VT game. Bad calls can really change the momentum of a team long after the affected play.

I agree with your admiration for Matt Leinart sticking with USC for another year. Too bad that kind of attitude is the exception these days.

Most of all, I hope no one gets hurt in any of these games.

The inaugural ACC Championship game is going to be huge in many ways too. I hope we are in it (all the way). ; )
