You're making assumptions here like saying there will be a "Real Estate Doom and Gloom Environment". I suppose if you had a crystal ball then you may be right but if we just muddle along and with continued population growth and relatively more balanced demographics than the rest of the world then there will always be demand for housing and there will be some relative equity in it because real estate still is a hard asset.

There will be ups and downs of course in real estate but I don't think many Boomers are going to part from such investments in mass numbers. If it means using whatever financial tools that are available to live comfortably, then they are going to do it as they have shown to be a "live for today" crowd.
