Scott, Can you summarize Bloomberg article or is it accessible throught web? Regarding 56k success, I have noticed from the ascend user mail list that 56k stability has improved over significantly over the last few weeks because of ascend and modem co's (zoom, mot and boca) incorporating more mature releases of rockwell code. It seems as if the later versions of code sacrifice speed for stability. One of the biggest problems earlier was many disconnects between ascend equipment and modems. I believe ascend has been late in delivering e1 (european ) code. This may have something to do with sales in europe.
