Geode, I know it's boastful, but when I was involved in business, my credit control was the best. I took rotten areas, full of bad debts and dodgy customers, and ended up with the best days of credit, least write offs and increased sales as well, which is a pretty good combination. Not to mention profits.
<Goodness gracious Maurice have you actually run a business? Once your services have been rendered to said unconscious legless person, try and get blood out of that particular stone. I would not hire you to be my credit manager.>
I wouldn't accept a job as a credit manager for you. I liked to work for people who were up with the play on how to run a good business and had high standards in all respects.
Where on Earth did you get this idea? < The idea that anyone anywhere is ever happy to pay a very large bill which they are not obligated to pay can go into the folder entitled: very funny libertarian myths about human behavior. > Libertarians don't think that about human behaviour. You obviously need some reading and learning and understanding. When you work from false premises, everything you conclude and do will be wrong. You will be bewildered until you correct your premises.
A taxpayer doesn't choose to pay their bills. The money is extracted against their will. In my legless accident victim instance, the payment would be taken from the value of their tradable citizenship or insurance policy if they were a visiting alien. If they were a criminal invader, then their body parts would have some value once it was established that they were illegally legless in Seattle. <I do not wish to run a business that preys on the desperate. If you wish to, in the name of libertarian profit, then you should open up a check cashing outfit in a desperately poor area and charge 30% interest. Make sure you bring your guns.>
Wow, you are a cruel person. Not prepared to help the desperate. They are the people most in need of goods and services and businesses should be set up to service them to make a lot of money and satisfy urgent and important needs for people.
I don't know about check cashing businesses, and don't think there is a need for cheques. In Mqurice's new currency, Message 21744938 the Quid, there won't be any need for cheques. Why would people pay 30% interest unless they have appalling credit worthiness and are highly unreliable? I'd be more inclined to hire them at a low price, paying them AFTER they've done the job [bad credit risks would abscond without working if I paid in advance].
Mugging is illegal and criminal. Suggesting I might be interested in robbing people is again contrary to Libertarian concepts. You are again showing ignorance.
<So, you want the government to jail and kill people who are acting up because they haven't had a drink of potable water in 4 days? > Where did you get that idea? What do you mean by "acting up"? Usually, people who are thirsty will do what they can to get water. If they rob somebody of their water, then yes, I think they should be punished.
<I'm always amused by those who call themselves libertarians because they never make any sense. On the one hand you expect everyone to fend for themselves and on the other hand you expect everyone to do good work, respect their customer and be honest dealers....just because.>
You are again showing ignorance. If people are dishonest dealers, stealing, defrauding or robbing, then they would go in the slammer, stocks or other unpleasant situation. Respecting customers comes with having to earn a living and competing with others who do show respect. Whether people do good work or not is up to them. It's hard to avoid doing good work if one has to earn a living in a freely-trading environment.
Try understanding the premises and principles of Libertarianism, then things will make more sense for you. You might still prefer slavery and serdom. Some people do. They like life red in tooth and claw. Which isn't surprising given the biological history and DNA of our chimpoid ancestry. Some of us prefer things in a modern, civilized and happier way.
