End of the season assessment: Going back to the heirloom varieties of tomatoes next year. We grew Beefmaster and Big Beef tomatoes this year. One Early Girl plant too. The worst tomatoes I've had in a long time. Not only did they not bear very large tomatoes, but they had very little taste. Almost as tasteless as the store bought kinds. They were "Bonnie's" brand. I wouldn't recommend them.
Next year it will be back to the German Johnsons and maybe some
Aunt Gertie's Gold.
The pepper crop did well this year, also good okra and pole beans although we did have quite a drought in this area.
The borage was interesting but I won't be growing that one again. Not that rewarding and reseeds a lot.
We have just planted fall spinach, brussel sprouts and turnip greens. We often get good fall harvests of these up until December here.
Anyone else have gardening success stories or comments on their season?
