That depends on how we deal with it. A "it was just some cockroaches that got sprayed" would have one impact. A "it was just a few loose cannons, we've already taken care of it" might be somewhat better, might even be worse.

The reason for my comment is that the administration is already teetering on a knife edge. The response to Rita has been marginally better than Katrina, but only a little. For this to blow up in the wake of those hurricanes means an abrupt and radical change in the way things are done is in the cards. I don't see creaky carts rolling towards the guillotines, but I do see some change like that coming if those photos and tapes are like I think they are. It goes against too much that Americans like to believe about themselves. Systematically abusing children is not one of those ideals.

So there is a growing anger in this country and that stuff might bring things into focus. A classical case of the Morton Salt Syndrome if you ask me.
