There is no place on the application to graduate school where one puts "father's profession". Whether somebody on the admissions committee brought that to the picture as they were individually reviewing the application is up to them.

Hardly needs to be. The admissions process in any undergraduate college/university, grad school, professional school has several streams of admission. You might not like it; I don't particularly. But it's certainly a given.
