The 3-3-5 defense of the Eeers has given us fits the past two years. They show blitz and back into 8 defensive back sets and rush three. Then they will show a three man rush some with 8 in the box. They are the best I have seen in defense against the option, the pitch out, the screen pass and the end around. They stay in position because they are disciplined. Offensively they zone block, which means stunts rarely fool them. The backs have no set holes to run to instead they wait on the line backers to commit and run away from them. As an aside, they tried to run the same scheme that VT had several years ago and hired a tech assistant. He lasted one year and was fired...i.e, defensively. Phil Elmassian . We tore him up and hung them 35-0 that year. Makes you wonder how other teams cannot prepare for us better. I think it is because what we do on defense calls for some very talented players...
