Actually, only indirectly I think.

Charles Krauthammer tonight made the excellent and correct point that the national figures who voted against him had their political futures in mind. For example, Hillary, Biden, Bayh, Obama (sp?), etc. Basically, his point was that these people, if they are to be viable candidates, are reliant on the Dem party for financing, so they effectively had no choice on how to vote. Furthermore, if they want to get past the primaries, they have to make the extreme Left happy (even though Hillary is moving Right every chance she gets -- talk about playing both ends against the middle!!!).

Some otherwise reasonable people (Bayh (sp?) for example) dug deep in order to be able to vote against a nominee who is likely the most qualified nominee of our lifetimes. You really had to have some mojo to find a reason to vote against this guy; the guy is just brilliant, every answer was perfect and appropriate, and everyone who asked him "tough" questions ended up looking like an idiot (particularly Joe Biden LOL).
