Happy Canadian though I am, truth forces me to remind you that in the first oil-shock of 1972-1973 Canada and the US BOTH price controlled oil and gasoline.
As for Japan, I suppose since you don't pay income tax, this doesn't matter but they absolutely have no long term strategy for meeting Chinese competition. Your Japanese stocks can only do well in the short term. Do you know how poor Japanese universities are?
