Ted, the crime in Clinton's case was sheer perjury. High-profile celebrities like Martha Stewart and Lil' Kim have to serve jail time for perjury, but Clinton gets away with it by saying, "It all depends on what your definition of 'is' is."

Yes, but the difference is that there was a real crime behind the perjury charges with Stewart and Lil' Kim......in the case of Lil' Kim, part of the crime was just sheer stupidity......maybe with Stewart too. However, the crime in Clinton's case was an adulterous BJ and he didn't want to have to face his wife with the news.

As for campaign finance laws, like I said before, they're just made to be broken. No matter how many laws are written, politicians will always find ways around them. The 527 groups like MoveOn.org is a great example. All they have to do is claim to be non-partisan and they're covered legally, even though absolutely no one believes it in real life.

That doesn't change the fact that breaking the law is breaking the law. The average citizen including you and Tom Delay is not in the position where he can decide which law to obey and which one to break.

In other words, it's all a political game. This is NOT the same as laws against murder, because that's truly an issue of morality and societal order. Not so with campaign finance laws. On the surface, they're intended to "level the playing field," but only idiots believe that those laws even come close. Even the sponsors of such laws are probably snickering and winking as they pass them.

Its not a political game. Delay broke the law. Had he not, he couldn't have been indicted. And this is not the only complaint against Delay. He has had a history of questionable relationships with corporate sponsors and corporate lobbyists.
