Anyway, investments seem to move in fairly sudden gushes. Even indexes do. If you caught the beginning of the recent energy move that is great, but I think it is difficult if not impossible to move from one beginning to the next...although anyone who can do that consistently would easily be in the top 5% (or better) of investors. Even then, the beginnng might not come 'right away'. For example look at this simple chart of a stock I bought in 1999 or so. 6 years and a ten-bagger in that time. I don't think many would hope for a better return than that, but look at the long boring beginning and the periods of 6-9 months when the movement was as dead a a lead pipe...boring boring boring. And I have watched the company like a hawk all this time, yet I didn't anticipate when the big moves would come. They just happened.
