Philly Will Award Wi-Fi Contract Monday Earthlink insiders believe they're the winner Posted 2005-09-30 17:36:10 The two finalists to provide city-wide Wi-Fi to Philadelphia are EarthLink and Hewlett-Packard, and the city should announce its decision on Monday, according to Forbes. According to "sources", Earthlink is confident that they've won the contract. After the Brand X decision (preventing access to cable networks) and FCC policy changes (limiting access to bell DSL and fiber networks), Earthlink is exploring new ways to reach customers such as Wimax, mobile VoIP, municipal broadband, BPL, and technologies like Covad's line powered voice.
