I appreciate everyone trying to talk me out of my riskier bets. I agree that Gateway is far and away the weakest of the crowd - their business is high quality home PCs at a time when that market is being transformed by $999 boxes and Web TV - like devices. This ploy of moving into the business market is like a nine year old entering Dodge during the OK Corral gun fight. Fat chance.

With Dell, I very much appreciate the superiority of the company. Remember, those puts are a bet against the stock, not the long term company. My guess is that it will not be bad numbers that will correct Dell stock. It will be the sudden perception on the part of investors that the PC model truly is morphing into something cheaper and simpler. I think that this will cause a change in investor psychology and people will not be willing to pay such a high multiple for Dell - however great a company it is.
