Sun and Google are likely partners, there are a ton of ex-Sun geeks working at GOOG now, especially the software people that were pretty much jettisoned en masse at Sun.

I speculated on this thread 5 years ago with Rudedog that Google was the next microsoft and I still believe that. Sun can get a lot of leverage out of this partnership. Google is trying to incent the use of open source office , maybe there is something about open office in this deal.

I don't think this is an announce about using Sun servers, GOOG already has a bunch of SUn servers, there is nothing new in that news. Its probably an open source software partnership.

All the Silicon Valley guys are really ganging up on Bill and Ballmer now. I knew when that chair throwing incident happened it was the beginning of the end of something. Anybody remember that IBM leaked memo about 10 years ago that was a big brouhaha with the former IBM CEO (Akers, I think). He basically threw a tantrum when IBM fell and blamed the employees. Of course IBM was in severe decline at the time already, but the market didn't get it for a few months. Thats what the Ballmer chair incident reminds me of.
