Her work is poetry.

It's poetry of the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century America. It mirrors the fractionalized, colloquialized America she lives in. Olds, like her or not, was a pioneer in focusing poetic work on female sexuality.

I'm grateful to her for that.

Yes, she'll be judged after she dies as to whether she enters the canon. I'm betting she will.

But then, I won't be here either. :-)
