(PR NEWSWIRE) Laser Optics Receives Largest Production Award To Date For Propri tary IR Components Laser Optics Receives Largest Production Award To Date For Proprietary IR Compon nts NORTHVALE, N.J., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Photonic Products Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: PHPG) announced today that its Laser Optics business unit recently expanded its production capacity for sets of specialty waveband optical components used in state-of-the art, imaging system assemblies produced by Raytheon. This year's production award, the largest to date, covered over 1400 sets of parts. The dollar value of the contract was not disclosed. The subject parts are specialty optical components made from high purity and high uniformity indium antimonide, a crystalline material transparent in specific regions of the electro-magnetic spectrum. This material is both soft and brittle, and as well has mechanical properties that vary with direction, making it highly challenging to turn routinely and productively into high precision optical components. Yet, these finished components serve a vital function in certain of Raytheon's imaging assemblies, produced for high priority Department of Defense programs. Using proprietary manufacturing methods, Laser Optics overcame these challenges and has been the provider of these elements for the present generation of systems. Dan Lehrfeld, President and CEO of Photonic Products Group commented, "Our business units are each focused on being preferred niche providers of critical OEM components and devices to corporate customers, large and small. High capability systems that protect our service men and women "in harm's way" in various parts of the world are and will remain a high priority for the DOD. We are especially pleased therefore to be Raytheon's supply chain partner of choice on these critical components." Photonic Products Group, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets products and services for use in diverse Photonics industry sectors via its expanding portfolio of branded businesses. INRAD specializes in crystal-based optical components and devices, laser accessories and instruments.
