Easier to say where I don't like to ski... ;)

I live in NY, so, taking off a day during the week is always an option - the place gets too crowded on weekends. I go fairly regularly to Stratton, VT., as well as some other spots in the NE. Rockies are nice, but coming from sea level, the altitude sometimes can be a factor.

Shack's backyard playground - Whistler/Blackomb - is a great place, sporting the highest vertical drop in North America - about 5000 feet. Chile is interesting and sort of exotic - not to mention that it is a curious feeling - to ski in the middle of August... -g. In Europe there are many great places. I liked best Chamonix (went there several times) - a great variety of mountains and slopes, for any skill level - or, mood. One of the mountains there has a vertical drop of 9000 feet. You go up, and by the time you come down, basically, a day is gone. And I'd take a day like that any day of the week....
