IMO, the last decent wagons made were the 96 Chev. Caprice Wagon or the Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon. Big ol cars that used the LT1 GM motor and still got 22-25 mpg on the highway.

The Tarus gets about 30 MPG on the interstate, but only about 18 around town. I think the areodynamics has a lot to do with it, the wagon cuts the air better than the sedan. The later model one such as the 99 is almost a hatchback and does much better than the earlier Taurus. Have a few minor problems, it seems to eat tail lights for some reason, and the headlights flicker a bit in high beam, but over all a good car. My best cars as far as durability have been a Dodge 93 Caravan, and a 1980 Toyata Tercel. The worst was a 1987 Mazda 323 Sedan, and a distant second was a 1996 AMC Pacer. Some of these cars such as the Tercel and Pacer were my wife's cars. My favorite cars I have owned were a 1955 Chevy hotrod, and a 1969 Buick Reviera with 430 CI.
