Has anybody actually watched that webcast? I have.

Here's a capsule summary: McNealy and Schmidt came out and said (approximately) "We're cool internet guys who know a lot about the internet. We like the web and the internet and open software. We're going to be working together, and that's really cool. We're bundling the JRE and the Google toolbar. Watch for great things from us in the future, all of which will be cool. Now Jonathan Schwartz will join us and we'll take questions. Stay tuned for future things to stay tuned for."

They explicitly and (in Schmidt's case) rather vigorously Fred Astaire'd away from press questions regarding the "major disruption" of Open Office as a web service.

The affair was rife with sheepish jokes and bombastic answer-avoidance. The one thing that could be called a real announcement was the bundling deal that will allow a user to optionally add the Google Toolbar into their browser whenever they install the JRE. Whoop-de-doop-de-doop-de-doo. (Glad they at least had the sense to make the Toolbar optional.)

I remain utterly in the dark about the purpose of this press conference.
