Vision Works Media Group, Inc. Announces Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth Fiber-to-the-Home Distribution Contract
LAS VEGAS, Oct 04, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Vision Works Media Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:VWKM) and wholly owned subsidiary New Screen Television, Inc. announced a long-term agreement for distribution of their TV channel with Houston, Texas-based Optical Entertainment Network (OEN). The channel, New Screen TV, will be carried on OEN's FISION(TM) fiber-to-the-home service in Houston and in Dallas/Ft. Worth and other additional markets in 2006 and 2007. The two companies made the announcement at the FTTH 2005 Conference & Expo at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. "We are thrilled to have completed this agreement with OEN - they are an outstanding company and their FISION service is going to run circles around the older cable operators in the coming decades," said Rick Erikson, New Screen TV's General Manager. "Houston is the 10th largest DMA (market) in the U.S., and Dallas/Ft. Worth is the 7th largest, so we have now achieved one of our prime goals in securing the best possible distribution for New Screen TV in multiple top-ten metro areas."
New Screen TV is focused on distribution through the fastest growing segment of the pay-TV industry - the fiber-to-the-home system builders. Established cable and satellite operators were shocked this year when Wide Open West LLC, the company that owns and operates the WOW!(SM) fiber-to-the-home service, watched as the service won the #1 ranking and top award in the J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Residential Cable/Satellite TV Satisfaction Study(SM). The study is recognized as the benchmark and industry standard by which all U.S. pay-TV operators are judged.
"Our fiber-to-the-home platform allows OEN to carry new and innovative channels, such as every HD channel available from HBO, ESPN and others. It also allows us to carry top quality and cutting-edge newcomers like New Screen TV, and to provide our customers with more choices than what cable is able to offer. We are very excited to be a New Screen TV affiliate," said Jo-lynn Foo, OEN's VP of Programming.
