I presume you are talking about the first conspiracy charge?

(Still, that has nothing to do with the anti-corporate political contribution provision of the Texas Constitution... which has been in there for many years.)

Reputedly, 'the Hammer' collected $190,000 in corporate contributions in Texas, sent them to the national RNC along with a list of Texas candidates, and the amounts suggested to be allocated for each... then the RNC sent $190,000 to those Texas candidates.

Sure sounds like a slick end-around the Texas laws, but it also sounds like an illegal evasion.

Guess if it hadn't been a Texas-registered political action committee accepting the checks from the corps., and they hadn't accepted them *in Texas*, but rather had originally sent them to the RNC, say... then it wouldn't have been illegal....

Of course, the Hammer wouldn't have been able to claim the credit so directly that way....
