Of course, energy conservation is important, but you wouldn't know it by listening to right-side rhetoric for the last many years. How is it we need more new refineries now, wasn't refining short-supply apparent before today? With such a "brilliant" president, how come we need a disaster for him to make a claim to action... This is all similar to the disaster relief infrastructure we were assured was in place now four year after 911, but before Katrina and Rita showed us that all the administration's rhetoric was all talk and money wastefully spent. Hey, wait till that Republican non-thing called global warming comes home to roost. There's nothing long-sighted about this presidency... Didn't see the mess in Iraq happening, despite Powell and others warnings. Didn't see 911 happening despite vacation time warnings of an imminent attack. Hmmm what else... more tax cuts? Can't wait.
