Re: Work/meetings
It is almost 10:30PM and I am still at work. Its funny how you get the most done when everyone else is gone! Anyway, just checked the news that broke after the close and the highlight says: Motorola is not going to meet its Q3 earnings. The stock is already down about $9 to around $65-$66/shr (from $75 at the close). There is going to be blood all over wall street tomorrow, and perhaps it will be the day after almost 4 months since last time I added to my SUNW shares to buy more (I have even gotten my wife's blessing on this)! I also hope to buy more of COMS, and ASND tomorrow too (ASND has been giving me a hard time ever since I first bought it about 1 month ago - but that is ok). Networking stocks are going to be a huge hit after December/January time frame.
Oracle is really going to go after Wintel (especially the Microsoft part of Wintel)! Not only it has the huge cash to do whatever it wants to do but also the blessing of Sun. And with this open letter submitted by Microsoft/Intel/Dec/CPQ to Sun, I really do hope Larry Ellison manipulates the situation (if Sun does not do so itself) to push for its strategic intent for Network Computing. The massive commercial adds and marketing will go on the air very shortly.
I think it is open season on Microsoft. I was just talking to this friend and former colleague of mine earlier today. He has been with Microsoft since 1989 and is one of the senior architects in the multi-media group. He is going to submit his resignation to his boss first thing tomorrow morning, and guess where he is going? SunSoft! He said a lot of old time Senior developers have left the company during the past year (especially the past 6 months). The majority of them have either gone to startup companies in Silicon Valley (as well as in Seattle area), or to Sun or to HP (he said especially HP, interestingly). He said after almost 8 years of being with the company he had never seen such a confusion and fear of defeat before within the company.
Anyway, It is interesting to see what Microsoft did to Borland, and Apple during the late 80's, early 90's (I mean as far as stealing developers is concerned anyway), happening to itself by companies such as Sun, and HP!
Tomorrow maybe a great bargain hunting day while the blood is streaming in Wall Street (hope it is not too much, though). Happy Investing
