SUNW has also been developing RFID technology using Java. (http://www.sun.com/smi/Press/sunflash/2005-01/sunflash.20050117.1.html) Sun Microsystems Unveils Sun Java System Tag and Ship Solution and Sun RFID Reference Architecture If you do a GOOGLE search on RFID you will see that Sunw is one of the big innovators in this field. GOOGLE wants to use RFID tag data in their "mobile search" services. I would not be surprised to see SUNW and GOOGLE work on some type of enterprise search/tracking system. Sunw opened up their new RFID test center in Texas in May 2004 to respond to technology requirements laid out by Wal-Mart and other retailers as well as by the U.S. Department of Defense..
