>> The reason why you are less likely to be killed in an affluent neighborhood is generally speaking people there are more intelligent than people in poor neighborhoods.

Is that so? And silly me, I thought it was because of drug trade and gang wars. Of course I am less likely to be a drug mule if I can have a corporate job with 6 figures or more and my kids are less likely to join gangs if they spend their times with soccer practice and nintendo...but nevermind all that. I have travelled to some of the poorest villages in the world and never had to worry about getting killed. How do you explain that so much of the poor world is not very violent?

>> They have figured out stuff. Like being nice is good and being bad is no good.

Yes. But does this make them a "better" person? If I have figured out how to pick your pocket by helping you with your bags instead of holding a gun to your head and demanding your wallet (and save myself a lot of headache), am I a more loving person?

>> Similarly, good business people have figured out that if you are good, treat people decently, yu are more likely to succeed.

Same answer as above. If I have figured out I can dump my toxic waste at the shores of Africa than be a polluter at home then use part of the savings to run a PR campaign in the name charity, I am a better businessman, but am I a better person?

>> Stupid people, selling trash, mistreating their customers are not going to succeed.

Having seen many of them in executive positions, I don't think they fail as often as you think...but just the same, what does that have to do with being a better human being?

>> Being smart is better than being stupid.

Oh dah!! You don't say!

>> Being good is better than being no good.

Ditto...but do it justice, this item is a complex debate that I don't have the time for at the moment (being late for my MENSA meeting and all <vbg>:)
