********GOOD NEWS************

Here is part of an article that I got in the San Jose Mercury News:

by Phillip Robinson-Computing Section- San Jose Mercury News- Sunday, August 11,1996

[First, the oldest and lamest part of the home computer- the floppy drive-is finally beggining to head out of the
picture. Second scanners-to get the pictures in the computer- are finally headed in. Third, home computers are
starting to get the big sights and sounds of consumer electronics.
Floppy replacement? After a decade stuck at fitting 1.44MB into 3.5 inch floppies, with constant promises that
higher-capacity drives would supersede them, the IOMEGA ZIP drive seems to be gaining the edge on the EZ
drives from SyQuest. Although the Zip can't read or write on older floppies, it holds 100MB on each of its
$20 3.5-inch cartridges. Not only can you buy these drives on your own and hook them up to a PC or Mac,
but they are STARTING TO BECOME STANDARD EQUIPMENT in a few computers.
Power Computing has been offering Zip drives as an option in its Mac-compatibles for more than a year. Now
they are offering Iomega's 1GB Jaz drive too. On the PC side IBM builds the Zip into its Aptiva C6Y.
Hewlett -Packard builds the Zip into the Pavillion 7110Z. And Micron's desktop P166 Millenia Plus comes
with Iomega's 1GB Jaz drive.]
