Saddam was not interested in attacking the US, he was interested in holding onto his own power. We can now see he was a bragging liar, boasting to his people that he would attack Americans and Israel, but chickening out and planning a total retreat.

Actually Saddam's strategy, if it is a strategy, has worked well. Let us come into Iraq, then chip away at us and drive us nuts. Like a reverse Trojan Horse.
