Not true. While crossing the border at Afghanistan, our guide handed us over to a local thug/warlord/official. He went on at lengths about how he was going to make our lives miserable by handing us over to a slew of more unsavory characters. But the matter was resolved by some payments and handing over a watch. I've had a few other experience along that line, but eventually figured out how not to get myself in a jam.

Now tell me, have you been mugged? Or do you just assume that because someone pulls a knife or gun on you you are going to die?
