False. Maybe that argument held water before the Clinton welfare reforms, but not since. The US economy can't support full employment, no economy can. "Ultimately, the issue" is do you let those people (and their kids) that can't find a job fall into homelessness. In the wealthiest country in the world (for now) do we let the least among us fall into destitution? What did Jesus say?

No doubt, there are a few of those. Not "many" as a percent. You have a much lower view of your fellow man than I do.

Welfare is "chicken change" in this country.
