Peter, I'm confused. Most developers/graphic designers/
video editors don't buy their tools from the Office Depots
and CompUSAs of America -- at least none of the industry
people I know. They make much more use of mail order firms.

The OEM deals, particularly scanners are the perfect
vehicle for distribution as the purchaser usually needs
the software at the same moment.

Aside from Photodeluxe, and (maybe) Pagemill, I see very
little 'consumer' potential, thus not much shelf devotion in
the 'Joe-Blow' consumer shops. I don't understand why you
think this type of shelf presence is meaningful for Adobe
in particular (although I agree that it is for other types
of software). Am I reading too much into your comments?

BTW, I'm in San Rafael, too =) I'm an 'everyday' user (pixel
monkey ;-)) of Photoshop, After Effects, etc...I would never purchase
this stuff from Office Depot or CompUSA. (Not even ComputerWare
on 'C' street in our wonderful little town)
