As you well know that particular phrase does not exist. It comes from a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote. But it is extrapolated from the first amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "

Socialists only seem to remember this part: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

but always forget this: or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

There is no such thing as "Separation of Church and State". It is a lie that has been told so many times, ignorant people believe it.
