re:"Little wonder that Condi Rice was dispatched to Princeton last week to inform the university that democracy comes out of the barrel of a gun. U.S. military force, said the secretary of state with a straight face, is required to force democracy down the throats of the Muslims in order to save future American generations from "insecurity and fear."

Actually, for hundreds of millions of people, freedom did come from the barrel of a gun - that is if the gun was held by a U.S. Soldier (Japan, South Korea and Germany quickly come to mind). In fact, Since President Wilson, American soldiers have been dying for the freedom of "other" people around the world for almost 90 years now - and now Bush is fulfilling Wilson's promise of democracy to the Arabs.

Bin Laden is popular for the much same reason that Hitler was. Hitler blamed everything on Jews, and promised to full fill the dream of German Nationalists - the unification of all German speaking people into a super nation state (of course Ethnic Germans lived German speaking communities from Eastern France to the Ukraine). Bin Laden blames everything on Americans (and their Jewish masters) and seeks to unify all Arab speaking people and re-create the Caliphate (who's territories unfortunately, contains the Iberian Peninsula - Spain and Portugal).
