point 1 : Biz plan for Brocade says they are after hi-performance market...hence no AL. Just like they will never do Hubs. what's your beef ? point 2: they have 2 ports per ASIC and proven switch in customers' hands for the last year. NO recalls, No problems. It's a Qualified product. Match it, Ancor with your new switch and show that it inter-operates with all third parties HBA/nic cards. my sources told me Brocade is sitting on an 8 port per ASIC switch waiting for an opportune time to launch without cannibalizing their first gen. product. point 3 : what good is lower price per port when it's buggy or plain doesnt work ? Is AMD putting Intel out of biz ? point 4 : FC will never make it in LANs. Brocade is going after class 2/3 SANs. All mass storage cos favors class2/3. point 5 : Too bad , Hardly anyone is buying from them... point 6 : Class 1 is crap. point 7: the silkworm demo i saw at Interop had 4 switches all cascaded upto 64 ports and demo'ed a movie across 4 switches with a 10km reel of optical fibre in between ie. some ports running 20km distance (round trip) and the movie was crisp & smooth. Get your facts straight. perhaps, it will be shown @ Atlanta again. point 8 : The truth will come out soon enuff.
